Jaguar Xk

From 3arf

The Jaguar XK heritage began in 1946 when William Lyons developed the XK 120. Although it was not the most powerful car at the time, the XK 120's design was the starting point of all XKs to come. Clean design surface, side lines that flows from the front through to the rear arches and very long bonnet, almost pushing the occupant's cabin to the rear, is some of the strong design features we can see on a Jaguar XK. Through the years we have witnessed subtle changes in the design to make it more modern while maintaining the original design of the XK. That is until 2006 when Jaguar revealed their new XK. It seems to have averted from it original design. While still maintaining its beauty in its design, the design of the new XK can be seen to have a heavy influence from its sister company, Aston Martin. Unlike the previous XK, the new XK was developed using ICEM's Surf software. The first of the many Jaguars to be designed using this technique. The new XK is described by Jaguar as the start of a new era in its sports car lineage. Where before the XK was designed first-engineered later, it looks like the new XK was engineered first and designed later. Will the previous XK be a future British Classic? Before we can answer that, we first need to know what the definition of Classic' is.According to AE Classic, the definition of classic is 1.a. Belonging to the highest rank or class. b. Serving as the established model or standard. c. Having lasting significance or worth; enduring. 2.a. adhering or conforming to established standards and principles. b. Of a well-known type; typical. 3. a. Formal, refined, and restrained in style. b. Simple and harmonious; elegant. 4. A typical or traditional example. 5. Informal. A superior or unusual example of its kind. 6. A traditional event, especially a major sporting event that is held annually.Highest rank, established model, adhering, well known and elegant are some of the many definition people would have towards the XK.The XK was first revealed in 1996. The design of the car remained the same, with only few subtle changes, which many who are not in the design industry or worked for Jaguar would not have noticed throughout its 10 year period. There wasn't any other car during its time that would look similar or even close to the XK design lines. Today it still turns head and would make even the less car enthusiast drool at the sight of it. It was well-designed, distinguished and a resolute vehicle that everyone would have associated it with Jaguar. It certainly is the last XK model that would have the original Lyons design. The definitions above by AE Classic not only define Classic' but it is a true definition of the last of the Sir Williams Lyons designed XK.
