Is Perpetuating the Myth of Santa Claus Good for Children – Yes

From 3arf

The Christmas season , what a wonderful time of the year, you can feel the joyful spirit in the air, you can see delightful anticipation in the faces of so many, young and old. The Christmas holiday brings to life the giving spirit in people more than any other time of the year.

Every year as Christmas came around my children's anticipation of Santa Claus coming with the gifts that they were hoping for and the treats that he would leave at our house kept them delightfully excited, they always enjoyed the decorating of the house, and they were so excited the day the Christmas tree went up, all of the children would take part in decorating the tree after dad had put the lights on, we would bake Christmas treats and share them with friends and family, though I believe that overall they enjoyed the family coming together on Christmas day.

I always, every year, would talk with my children about the true meaning of Christmas, of how the birth of a child brought to life in the hearts of so many, hope, and a pure faithful relationship between themselves and their God. And they understood that Santa Claus and the celebration of the birth of Jesus had nothing to do with one another.

I never felt that my children believing in Santa Claus would cause them any harm, all to soon they grow up and realize that it's mom and dad that are sneaking all of those goodies into the house, though in those early years there is such excitement over their anticipation of Santa coming, they love to see him in the shopping malls, they love all of the movies, and stories that you read to them about Santa and how he visits people all over the world. You know I think I had as much fun as they did.

The kids have pretty much all grown up to be adults, and some have children of their own, and the Santa tradition carries on, though my roll has now become something of Santa's helper, I still get that feeling of excitement for the little ones that believe in Santa Claus, the holiday season is such a delightful time in their lives, I feel that the joyful wonder of Santa Claus should be a part of all the little ones lives.

All too soon we grow up and we realize that life is so much more serious, and we will have so many responsibilities, so why not just for a short while when were very young, and life seems to be so carefree, lets just have a little fun and believe that there is a Santa Claus
