Internships Career Choices Winter Break
Being able to choose what you do in life is a dream come true. When life comes at you, jobs are usually what you wind up with. Careers, on the other hand, are more of what you planned for yourself. You give considerable thought, time, planning, and perhaps receive quite a bit of education to obtain that goal. When you are in college, you may change your major several times before being comfortable with what you truly want to do. Internships are a wonderful way to get your foot in the door of some great companies, and also get a feel for your likes and dislikes.
While in college, your breaks are a good time to try some internships out. Doing research on companies that have internship programs and finding out whether it is paid or not, is always something you want to do. Before your winter break is upon you, check things out so that you are ready when your break comes. A good way to find out about internships are to check out your college, which just may have an internship there. If not, they should have a list of places that hire interns. If you waited until break is upon you, check out your library or perhaps a career fair.
Museums-If you fancy art or history, check your local art museum or historical society. They are both places that usually accepts interns.
Law Offices-This is a great place to get experience learning what areas of law you may be interested in. Civil, Criminal, Real Estate and so many more areas that perhaps you haven't thought of. You can learn a great deal in a short amount of time in this profession.
Political Offices-Want to be a politician? Check out your local political scene, they are always looking for good help.
United Parcel Service-They hire part time help especially beginning at Thanksgiving and on through the Christmas season. It is paid training and if you excel in whatever position you apply for, they will usually continue to bring you back every season. It is a great company to work for.
Graphic Design Companies-Perhaps you are a great graphic artist. Many graphic design companies have internships that prove to be quite valuable to a college student headed towards this vocation.
Disney-Want to have fun and call it work? Disney has a great intern program and there are many aspects to Disney. It isn't just rides and dressing up. There are many jobs at Disney that require real honest to goodness degrees in order to run this mega enterprise.
Whatever direction you choose to go in regards to a career choice, look within yourself for what interests you may have. Then, make a list. Life is all about choices. The sky is the limit when it comes to the rest of your life.
