When you become a dental assistant your duties will range from assisting the dentist to public relations. Your duties will include assisting a dentist during different treatment procedures, taking and developing x-rays, taking blood pressure and pulse while asking about the patient's medical history, preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. You will have to know how to use computers in the office for booking patients scheduling appointments as well as with suppliers. You have many opportunities in this field such as providing direct patient care in all of the specialties including orthodontics and pediatrics. You can also work as a representative at a dental company.
