From 3arf

Getting better gas mileage in today's economy has become a very big deal in many people's lives. That gas prices being unstable and been up to almost $5.00 a gallon last summer no one knows what's next for Gas prices. There are rumors that gas prices will go up even more once economy improves. Although auto manufacturers are coming out with more fuel efficient vehicles, not everyone can afford these expensive hybrid or electric vehicles. Even though the cash for clunkers program is supposed to help aid those in financial trouble, some people still simply can't afford a new vehicle. For these people and everyone really, it's important that they do everything they can to get the best gas mileage. Part of the problem is simply reducing the amount of oil used as the more oil used the higher the price goes. Simple economics could tell you the higher the demand for product the higher the price usually goes. Because of this I have compiled a list have different ways you can help save our environment can save money at the pump at the same time by getting better gas mileage.

1.) Properly inflating your tires -President Obama has said it himself, it is important to make sure your vehicle's tires are properly inflated. If your vehicle's tires are not properly inflated your car has to perform more work than necessary to keep your car moving at the speed requested by the driver. By doing this you're there for using more oil, and cost in yourself and more money at the pump.

2.) Coasting -Many of you might have heard of this technique to save gas called coasting. What coasting really is, is when you are a approaching a stop sign or red light to stop accelerating and coast to the light. It is also important not to use your brakes as if the light were to turn green you would have to go from a complete stop to accelerating again. One of the techniques use and hypermiling, as it is called is to try to limit the amount of time you spend using the brake completely. This also would save your money as you don't have to replace your brake pads as often.

3.) Idling -Try to avoid idling as much as possible is when you I told you getting 0 miles to the gallon. A big waste of gas I see is when people turn their car on and then sit there while they put their seatbelt on, adjust the radio and get ready to drive. It may not seem like much but not turning your engine on until you're ready to drive overtime could easily add up and save you a lot of gas and money.

There are many other ways to save gas and increase your fuel economy. I can't list them all for you today, but a simple Google search and other research could help you learn some more. Hopefully you learned some from me and will start driving more fuel efficiently, decreasing the demand for foreign oils and help decrease a price for all of us.
