Hybrid End of Times Power Saving Gas Prices Gas Saving – Uncool
It seems that in the present time where saving the environment is the trend. Gas and emission healthy hybrids are surfacing. Which paves the way too smaller vehicles, less power, and the decreased ability to do work. Yes, it is a good thing to be concerned and taking action about the environment, and rising gas prices. However, a 100 horsepower two-seater car that sounds like a vacuum cleaner is not the style of cool.
The style of cool is a lifted truck with a ten cylinder gas hog motor, that can pull anything and haul anything, and deafen anyone who gets to close to the exhaust. But then again that is my opinion of what is cool. Others may think hybrid cars are the new black.
However, back to my opinion. A 40 mpg hybrid cannot stand a chance against a 10 mpg hemi on a drag strip. Or a Cross-over SUV would not even stand a chance against a Chevy Bronco on a rugged mountain trail. Yes this argument is concerned witht the "cool" factor, however cool is not always about looks, it is about durability, power, and the deep down components of cool. What hurts me is that in 20 years the new cool will be even smaller, efficient vehicles.
My dream of American power and muscle will be diminished, I still remember when the 5.2L was the smallest engine you could get in a truck, now the smallest, and actually factory default is a 4.7L or smaller. Which is very uncool to me. I will not hold anyone back from being good to the environment, just do not hold it against me when my four ton monster runs your half-ton baby carriage off of the highway.
Take notice of this, all parts will be more expensive on a hybrid because of all the electronics, and state-of-the-art technology. It will not be as simple as going to auto zone or the junkyard and picking up a cheap part. Also mechanics will not be as knowledgeable, as they Will be used to working on older non-hybrid vehicles, therefore you will have to take it to the dealer to have your vehicle fixed. Pain in the butt? Yes. I would much rather see my choice of transportation as a gas hogging, horsepower fiend, that catches looks, and cleaning out my wallet at the pumps, than a gas- saving golf cart. Go ahead, you can blame my Selfish American ways.
