How your Thinking Style can help or Hinder your Career
The way that you think at work could be helping your career, or it could possibly be hurting your career. It really all depends on how you think about it, or how you think while you are at work. When you really get to thinking about it, it could be the difference between the promotion that you want, or getting fired. How does the power of your thinking impact how you well you do in your career?
They say that if you want to be a success, you have to plan to be successful. This means that you have to see yourself being successful first. If you don't see yourself being successful, you aren't going to be successful. As odd as it seems, what you think you are is eventually going to be what you become. If you have a high opinion of yourself and have confidence in yourself, it can change the way you interact with others, your bosses, and with customers.
If you think boldly and without fear, you are going to come up with good ideas. You aren't going to restrain yourself by thinking about failures or what could go wrong. You are simply going to make the best decision that you can and just go with it. Whether it sinks or swims isn't the issue, the fact is that you are going to do what you think is best and be done with it. No sense in worrying too much is there?
On the other hand, if you worry too much, you are simply going to be stuck in decision making neutral. You will fret over all the details and what others might think and not get anything done. You will be thinking about everything that could go wrong and making everything perfect instead of just seeing what happens and going from there.
If you think you are going to fail, chances are you are going to fail. You won't see any of the successes that you are having, only the failures that you can find. This becomes depressing, and nobody wants to see someone who is depressed and just down on himself. That is how you are going to shoot yourself in the foot when it comes to your career. Think positive!
Your mental makeup is really going to help or hinder your career. If you think you can, chances are that you are going to be successful. If you think you cannot, you are probably going to fail. This is simply how things work, and your mental attitude is going to be your biggest barrier out there. If you don't believe in yourself at all then who will?
