How to use Pinecones in a Winter Wedding Theme
While many people choose to have a summer wedding, often because of the warmer climate in many countries, a wedding held in winter can be enchanting and magical. This choice of season opens up a lot of unusual theme choices for a wedding. One suchtheme is pinecones. They create images of winter woodlands and Christmas trees. Another benefit of using them is that they are one of the most economical options. There are many different ways in which pinecones can be incorporated into your wedding with some thought and creativity. Here are some tips on how this can be achieved.
Bridal and bridesmaid bouquets
One of the most obvious ways of incorporating pinecones into a wedding is to include them in the bouquets of the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls. Pinecones can just as easily be included in a bouquet of fresh or dried flowers. This can be achieved by using floristry wire to bind the pinecones to the centre of the bouquet.
Church and aisle flowers
The flowers in the church and along the aisle, or in the ceremony room if you are not having a church wedding, can co-ordinate with the bridal flowers by using the same colors and using the pinecones. Another option is to attach pine cones to ribbons in the same color scheme as the rest of the wedding and have them hanging from the end of the pews or on the backs of chairs.
Table decorations
These do not necessarily need to be floral arrangements. A clear vase filled with pot pourri and pinecones makes an interesting central feature to a table. Pinecones can also be used as unusual name place card holders on the table. A popular choice at modern weddings is to simply scatter objects across the table. Combining pinecones with glitter or confetti to use on the table can create a dramatic look.

Although the plain brown of pinecones will look excellent with some color schemes or a nature themed wedding, many brides will be hoping to add a little more glitz and glamor to their special day. This doesn't mean that pinecones will make a bad choice. Pinecones can easily be decorated to suit any color scheme. The use of spray paints can achieve any color, including metallic colors. Another way of decorating pinecones is to use glitter. This will add a little sparkle to the day. Once decorated, the pinecones can be easily incorporated into any aspect of the decorations or floral arrangements.
