How to tell if you are being Pulled over by a Real Cop

From 3arf

Ones personal safety is something that should never be taken lightly.

With the police cars of today being acquired from so many different areas it can be difficult to tell if they are truly a “real” police officer.  The lights are placed in secluded areas of the vehicle as well to carefully hide the fact that they are police.  It's no wonder that many law abiding citizens have fear when they are pulled over for a minor infraction.  A minor infraction could be something as simple as failing to use their directional signal when changing lanes or turning, it can slip the mind so the person committing this may not even know it has happened. The first thing to do when being pulled over is keep calm.  You are in your vehicle, they are in theirs, at this point the only thing happening is flashing lights are warning you to pull over.  If you have a reasonable fear that the person pulling over is not a police officer, reduce your speed, and put on your flashers, but keep on going.  Doing this will let the person pulling you over know that you have recognized they are there.  Drive to a well lit area, so you can attempt to see if the car pulling you over is truly a police car.If this doesn't work, continue driving to an area where there are people around.  A grocery store, gas station, or restaurant is not conducive to mayhem.  Not many criminals are going to commit crimes where there are witnesses,  a "fake" police officer will just continue driving, leaving you alone. If you have a cell phone, call 911.  Explain to them that you are being pulled over, you have reason to believe that the person pulling you over is not a true police officer.  They will instruct on you whether or not this is real.  If it is real they will then explain to the real officer what you are doing via radio.Never just drive home, because if this person is not a real police officer, he will then know exactly where you live and come back for you at a later date.  Always drive to a well populated place.  If you have no cell phone, and you know exactly where the police station is, drive there.  You will know by the time you get there if they are truly an officer, if they are not the lights will go off, and they will have turned off.  Hopefully by that time, you will have gotten a decent description of the vehicle so you can file a report. Not all crimes happen at night, some are in the daytime as well.  Imitating a police officer is a very serious crime, yet one that is committed frequently.  Keep your eyes open, be aware of your surroundings and never let your guard down.  Take self defense classes, there is nothing quite like surprising the would be rapist with some self defense techniques of your own.
