In today's tough economy great career attributes to have are the abilities of adaptability and flexibility.With employers firing employees because companies are still looking to cut costs and make money as they see fit, you are an expendable commodity. In other words, you can be fired at will, if your were hired as an at will employee. Therefore, you need to be flexible and adaptable so that you can keep your job, and so that you continue learning and gaining new skills, making money.
When employees are not willing to adapt and change, they may be seeing a new side of life; unemployment. Employees that are versatile, and are willing to go with the flow, are the employees that corporations will consider keeping when times are tough.

When the CEO, CFO, the owner or your boss notices that you are flexible, and adaptable, you are seen as being a more valuable employee than an employee that is not willing to change or learn. Valuable employees that can perform many job functions as well as taking on many job duties are the employees that keep their jobs.
