How to keep new Years Resolutions five Goals to Set

From 3arf

The most difficult aspect of keeping New Year’s resolutions is that they’re usually made at the height of the holiday celebration while you’re surrounded by other happy people and bubbly champagne. Then, when you wake up to the reality of the morning after, you will then wonder if you can ever live up to those lofty promises you vowed to yourself. There are simple answers to the question of being true to your words, even if you're the only one who knows what they are. Just take some thoughtful moments at various times throughout the year to strengthen the goals you’ve set for yourself.1. Set realistic goals: No matter what you resolved in the heady atmosphere of New Year’s Eve, take a hard look at those goals as soon as possible, and bring them down to a level where you know you can reach. For example, if you’ve vowed on New Year's Eve to lose 25 pounds, be content that you’ll drop only 20 by the following Christmas Eve.2. Use the buddy system: Remember back years ago when you were in summer camp, and you and another swimmer had to keep eyes on each other at all times? Try that same system this year with a fellow resolution keeper. Check with each other frequently, and make sure each provides the buddy with appropriate praise, encouragement and, when necessary, nagging about keeping the resolutions.3. Write resolutions down and refer to them frequently: If it will help, print them up large and post them in a prominent place. For example, if you’ve resolved to give up cigarettes, and you get that overwhelming urge, check the list and resist the temptation to fall into the dirty habit again.4. Cheat a little, but not too much: If you’ve been absolutely true to your resolutions for several months, and you feel the need for a nice greasy ham sandwich, go for it. However, for the next several days, pay for your transgression by confining your meals to salads and yogurt.5. Reward yourself: You may not deserve an Olympic medal for honestly living up to your resolutions. However, if you’ve made it through most of the months of the year by observing a reasonable diet, cutting back on booze and staying away from tobacco, give yourself a pat on the back. It won’t be just because you fulfilled your resolutions and met the goals you set for yourself, but you’ve also managed to create a much better you.
