The festive spirit is a magical feeling which can be made even more special when you are a child as everything seems so much more exciting and magical. There are many ways in which you can get your children into the festive spirit and this will create memories and traditions which your children will cherish. Below are some examples as to how you can help get your children into that festive spirit.

  • Crafts.Children love being creative and so draw on this to help get them in the Christmas spirit. You can create various pieces of art work with them such as pictures of festive scenes with glitter or have them help create Christmas cards. You can buy Christmas stickers, glitter, glue and other items for relatively cheap and this can not only help them be creative but get them in the Christmas spirit. Perhaps you could also involve them in making homemade decorations including paper chains, baubles for the tree and so forth.
  • Stories. There are many festive stories about Christmas. Some of these are religion based and talk about the meaning behind Christmas whilst others are stories about father Christmas and present giving. These can all create a lovely magical atmosphere and have your children look forward to the special day. As well as stories you may also find lots of stories within films and programmes, there are lots which are aimed at young children.
  • Visit Santa.Visiting Father Christmas may be frightening for some but others will love it and find it a very magical experience indeed. Have a look into where Santa is appearing and go visit him. Some shopping malls have a grotto, school fates and garden centres. Perhaps there are special events such as a winder wonderland walk finished off with meeting Santa.
  • Shopping.Take your children Christmas shopping, have them involves in choosing gifts for people and helping you to wrap them. Children will become excited as they see the effort you are putting in and will look forward to seeing loved ones open the gifts. It will help to keep them involves in Christmas.
  • Decorations.Decorate your house so that it is festive. You do not need to go to extremes if you do not wish to; not everyone needs to make their house look amazingly lit up and have it take weeks to get everything in place. A Christmas tree alone can be enough to make a child feel festive. Have your child help decorate your house with you, engage them in putting decorations up, creating a beautiful atmosphere with the items that you have.
  • Music.Music can make so many emotions come out and Christmas music can really help that festive spirit arise! There are many Christmas songs from traditional hymns to children's songs.

You can help your child to get into the spirit of Christmas and feel festive by just helping create that special wintery atmosphere and involve them in the lead up to the big day. Christmas can be so magical for children so having them be in the festive spirit can really add to this excitement and magic which will create many memories.
