How Introverts can Achieve Acting Success

From 3arf

Many extremely successful actors are notoriously shy and introverted. Harrison Ford, Michelle Pfeiffer andRobert De Niroare only a few of the long list of shy folks who turned to acting. People who are introverted find ways of interacting with other people through acting. Relationships can be formed within the context of rehearsals and classes as well as in the context of the imagination.

Successful introverted actors were often encouraged to perform at a young age in order to conquer their shyness. There are many extroverted people who have a much more difficult time perceiving themselves onstage. Introverted people may very well be those who tend to nurture their imaginations more. The imagination is the greatest tool of the actor.

Acting gives an introverted person a voice. Not only are they given the voice of their character they're given the words of some of our greatest writers. If shy people are afraid to talk to others, being able to speak in the words of beautiful literature is a wonderful means of practicing conversation.

Being an actor can give an otherwise introverted person a presence and identity to others. Many shy people are also possessed of low self-esteem. There is almost nothing better for self-esteem than the attention an actor gets. Tackling a role with characteristics other than your own is a wonderful way to come out of yourself and broaden your perspective. This is a valuable way for an introverted person to stop thinking and worrying about themselves and how they will get along with others.

It takes a great deal of courage to be an actor but courage does not equate with introversion. An introverted person will find a means to climb into the skin of another person and speak through that person's personality. Pretending to be someone else can be one of the most therapeutic things an introverted person can do.

There is nothing that states successful actors must be extroverts. In fact extroverted people may have a more difficult time letting their guard down and absorbing the traits of a role that isn't themselves. In order to be a good actor a person needs to start from scratch and become their character from the inside out. An introverted person may be more accepting of this transformation.

The world of acting is tailor made for introverted people.Their imaginations will come to their assistance and make them able to take on the lives of their characters. From that perspective the introverted person finds success through the voice of someone else and a renewed sense of their own identity.
