Going out of Business

From 3arf

Employers often hit rough spots at different points in the life of their company.  The problems that employers face are often overcome with easy solutions.  Sometimes, however, the employer must close down their business if the problem is severe enough.  As an employee, this is sometimes easily recognized that the employer is having problems, based on certain signs.

1.  An employee may notice that their company is going out of business, due to the discounts the company is giving.  If a company is having a lot of promotions and money is actually being lost, then that could be an indicator that the company is desperate to do whatever it takes to make something, before they sell out.  An employee of that company may be in awe as to why there are so many sales, and eventually, they will understand that the company is trying to sell their stock and get whatever they can for it.

2.  Companies may be going out of business if employees begin to notice a difference in their situation at work.  For example, when employees begin to be laid off, and this is not standard practice for that company, then it may be a sign to the employees that the employer is getting ready to fold their company.  When companies find themselves in a bind that could threaten their company, one of the things that sometimes has to be resorted to is laying off their employees.  If an employee notices that everyone's hours are being cut back on, that could be another warning sign that the company could be going under.  There are times when the company needs to cut hours to get their books back into the positive, but sometimes, cutting pay and hours is a sign that the company is getting ready to sell.

3.  Oftentimes, an employee knows their employer is going out of business because they notice a change in the boss's attitude.  Sometimes, a person can be good at hiding their emotions, but if a company is getting ready to go under, most of the employees will notice an obvious difference in the boss's behavior.  The company is the employer's life and if that is taken away from them, it can be expected that the employer will have a different attitude about things.

There isn't much an employee can do when they notice that their employer is about to close the business, but at least they know what to look for and prepare to find another job.
