Gift Ideas for the Handyman in your Home

From 3arf

It is always nice to have a handyman in the house for all those things that need fixing. He may be "Mr. Fix It", but that does not mean he is easy to buy agiftfor, in fact it can be downright difficult! If you are at a loss for gifts for the handyman in your house, then read on for some great suggestions.

  • Tool box

If your handyman does not have a tool box, or the one he has is old and on its last hinges, then he could really use a new one. The truth is, a good tool box can be pretty expensive. There are different types and price ranges, so look around before making a decision. You may want to get him one that is portable so he can use it around the house and be small enough he can take it with him to work or even put in the car when he travels.

  • Headlight

No, this is not the type of headlight you put on your car, it is the type that is actually put on the head! This neat little flashlight attaches to a hat and is super-handy when he has to crawl around in dark spaces to fix something. What makes it so nice is that both of his hands are free to get the job done, instead of having the hassle of juggling the flashlight and tools at the same time. This head light is also good when the electricity goes out and he needs to get to the fuse box. This flashlight has many uses outside of the home too: fishing, hunting and camping just to name a few!

  • Tool belt

There is no way to describe the many reasons the handyman of your house needs a good tool belt. A tool belt is a hands-free way for him to carry his tools to the site of the job. You may not realize how much of a pain it is to try and carry all the necessary tools to the area where the repair is needed. Oh sure, he might have a tool box that he can lug around the house, but then he has to waste time rummaging through it just to find the right tool! A tool belt helps eliminate some of the hassle by allowing him to pack it with only the tools he needs for the specific job. As with anything, make sure the tool belt is durable and can take lots of hard use (you do not want holes in it after the third use). Think of it this way: a tool belt will keep him from loading his pockets down with tools that can wear holes in his pants!

  • Ladder

Every handyman needs a sturdy and durable ladder for those jobs that are out of reach. A rickety, flimsy ladder just does not cut it, plus they are dangerous. If he gets up on that unstable ladder and makes a wrong move, he can fall off or the ladder itself can give way. Besides being stable, a good ladder needs to be durable and able to handle a little bit (or a lot) of hard use. When looking for a good ladder, also be sure to check out the steps. One nice feature of good steps is having the non-slip coating. The non-slip steps will help reduce the risk of him slipping and falling while going up or down. A word of warning: quality ladders are not cheap, but you get what you pay for in this case. If you spend a little extra to get him a good, solid ladder you will not be sorry.

Choosing the right gift for your handyman might seem like an impossible task, but it really is not too tough. The thing to remember is that whatever you get him should make his jobs a little bit easier and maybe even fun. Tool belts, head lights and sturdy ladders are all good investments and are sure to make him just a little bit happier to do those home repair projects.
