Fun Wedding Shower Themes
You have a friend who is getting married soon and you are wondering what you can do to help her celebrate, sound familiar? It is a natural reaction to want to do something more than just be happy for your friend. Why not consider throwing her a wedding shower? You can go one step further and make it a themed shower. This may sound like a fantastic idea, but deciding on a theme can actually be tougher than it sounds. Perhaps somesuggestionscould help you out:
- Tropical. What could be more romantic than sunset in paradise? Choose party favors and decorations that have a tropical feel to them such asinflatable palm trees, photos of beautiful tropical sunsets and do not forget the little umbrellas in the pinacoladas! Choose appetizers and foods that have a tropical theme like coconut cakes and pineapple fruit plates. Everyone can dress up in grass skirts or other beach/swim attire. Play Hawaiian music and havegameslike limbo and beach ball toss. You can serve drinks incoconut shells(or at least look like it), have party favors likeleisand place beach towels on the floor/ground.
- Western. This theme can be a real hoot if you put some effort into the decorations and food choices. Start with some western themed decorations like cattle horns, hay bales, cowboy/cowgirl silhouettes, and other country western items. You could hang up horseshoes over the doorways or on trees if the shower is to take place outside. Find horse photos or stand up cutouts, use red bandanna tablecloths and napkins on the tables. Try finding some cutebootshaped cups to add to the table settings. Everyone can dress up in jeans and western shirts and wear cowboy hats.
- Spa. To signify the beginning of a blissful married life, why not have a relaxing spa themed shower? Decorate with serene pictures of bubbles, a mist covered lake and other peaceful images. Have bubble bath, bath beads, scented soaps and sleep masks as party gifts and favors. Everyone can wear lounge wear and fluffy bath robes and run around in fuzzy slippers and just relax and be comfortable. To keep in tune with the healthy and relaxing theme, offer healthy snacks like fruit and cheese plates and fruit drinks.
- Morticia Addams. This theme might seem odd to some people, but can actually be a lot of fun. If you have ever watched the original televisionseriesfrom the 1960's, you know that Morticia and her husband Gomez were in a constant love affair with each other. They were a very strange couple but very much in love. You can decorate with an air of creepy romance such as tattered tablecloths and taper candles. Hang up photos of the strange couple and dress up in long black dresses. Make cobwebs out of cheese cloth (available at most grocery stores). You can even watch episodes of the original show during the shower.
- Great love stories. This theme can be really neat. Guests can dress as their favorite female character from a love story such as couples from a favorite movie/television show/book. Decorate with hearts, flowers, rainbows, anything that symbolizes love and romance to your guest of honor. You could use pink and purple or pink and red colored tablecloths and napkins and have nice looking wine/champagne glasses.
