Fun Things to do instead of Drinking on new Years Eve

From 3arf

Drinking alcohol is not the only fun option to keep you occupied and bouncing at the end of the year.  No doubt the odd tipple or two can provide a little hilarity or mirth and relaxes most people, putting them at ease with the world.  There are also the negative aspects, both during and after the drinking process which may be reason enough to seek other ways of having fun and entertainment over the New Year period, rather than focusing on drinking as being the only source of laughter.

Money without doubt helps boost the fun factor so It would be nice to know where the ingenious comment “Money cannot buy you happiness,” came from, or by whom it was invented.  A lot of people who have absolutely no money, will screech back “But it can buy you something very similar” even though it may be only temporary or false happiness .  Money is an important aspect of life and there are obviously severe strains on our finances during the holiday period, so what can we do when our  financial resources are limited and booze is not an option?

Having fun on your own on New Year's Eve  is pretty pointless, even with cash and it could be considered pretty selfish; besides its very rare that someone would actually admit to having had the most wonderful time on their own.  Therefore contacting, the family or a group of good friends is generally a reasonable starting point to get the fun rolling.   Board games, sing songs or even just watching plain old TV and criticising the rubbish being broadcast can be  a good laugh and should not be dismissed.

If you consider satisfaction as a fun thing, then go and make someone else happy by visiting a person who would least expect to see you at this time of year. There are so many old people or lonely people living on their own, who would appreciate such a call.  The happiness you could bring by just spending an hour or so with somebody, could be invaluable as well as creating a warm feeling within yourself.  It might not seem much fun at first, but it is something you may get accustomed and addicted to.

Where we live has an impact on our fun levels; it is a fact people from warmer countries do smile more and a good climate is conducive to many fun outdoor activities, which are generally quite low in cost.  It is great fun at Christmas or at the end of the year just walking on a sunny beach with a bunch of friends’ just chatting, laughing, playing volleyball or whatever.  So try and spend your christmas in a different and warmer location.

If the snow falls over the christmas period, especially christmas eve, it provides an atmosphere that adds to the Christmas fantasy, so why not go outside and build a snowman or have a snowball fight with the kids.  Obviously, fun is an individual’s choice, what is fun for one person is not necessarily a hoot for another.  The recipe for real fun is a little imagination and the right person to have it with and most important of all doing something that everyone likes.
