You will see numbers like the following:235/70R16, 185/55VR15, 195/65TR15, 175/70HR13, etc.These numbers represent the tire size of your car.The letter R=radial, V,T,H=speed rating of the tire.E.g. 235/70R16: 235=width of tire, 70=profile/height and 16=diameter.Q=99 MPH, 160km/h S=112 MPH, 180km/h T=118 MPH, 190km/hU=124 MPH, 200km/h H=130 MPH, 210km/h V=149 MPH, 240km/hW=168 MPH, 270km/h Y=186 MPH, 300km/h Z=149 MPH, 240km/h and over
b] All your tires were stolen, including the spare or the 'spare' is a smaller sizetemporary tire - check out the side of the driver's door, you will usually see alabel stating the tire size and air pressure. If the label cannot be located, check the manual or look for another similar car or call the dealership or atire service center.
2] Finding a suitable tire size that is different from the present tire.
Method A:a] Make sure it's of APPROVED OPTIONS.b] Make sure the new tire has the same or higher MAX LOAD rating as the old one.Check indications on the side wall. Never lower.c] SPEED RATING of the new tire must be the same or higher. Never lower.d] CIRCUMFERENCE of new tire should not be 5% higher or lower than the old tire.An easy way to determine this is to place an inflated, mounted tire of each, side by side. If both are of equal height, it's good. If not, use tape measuresfor calculations.
Method B:a] As in Method A.b] As in Method A.c] As in Method A.d] If your old tire was 235/70R15 equivalents are 245/60R15 or 225/80R15e] If old tire was 175/70HR13.Changing to 14" rims, equivalent tire would be 185/60HR14.Changing to 15" rims, equivalent tire would be 195/50HR15
