Fiat Punto Evo 2010

From 3arf

Fiat, one of the biggest names in the car manufacturing business have just gotten bigger and are now preparing for an invasion of America. Since acquiring a controlling stake in “Chrysler”, Fiat plan to release a selection of their European line-up abroad, along with cutting down a few of the less popular Chrysler models. How will Fiat stack up against their more established rivals in the USA? Let’s take a look at the current Fiat line up and see which cars could make an impact across the Atlantic. The Punto, now available in the new Punto Evo model, has been a staple of the Fiat line up for a long time. It is the work-horse of the Fiat brand and a name instantly recognisable around Europe. Over the years it has been redesigned, mostly for the better and is ready to wow American audiences in 2010. The Punto sports a compact look with some very attractive curves and lines combining to give it a “cute” look. The interior of the Punto Evo is rather cluttered, but in a good way. The second you step inside the cockpit you feel like you are sitting in a futuristic and advanced vehicle. There are plenty of buttons, lights and dials to make any grown man or woman instantly feel 10 years old giving this car a fun feel. So, fun and cute, but how does this car perform? Well, under the hood sits either a 1.3 litre MultiJet Diesel engine, or a 1.4 litre petrol fuelled engine with MultiAir technology. MultiAir technology should help Fiat cars reduce emissions and reduce fuel consumption whilst improving the car’s performance through an increase in both power and torque. Fiat are really pushing themselves to the front lines of advanced engine technology with the MultiAir system, which is big news, and it should eventually be available in all models. The car provides a relatively quick and responsive drive because of the new engine despite the low bhp numbers. However, this car is not meant as a speed machine, it is a practical three or five door hatchback for city living. These small cars are very popular in Europe, but again, have not really caught on across the pond so it will be interesting to gauge the reaction of Americans if this supermini makes it across. The safety features on the Punto Evo are outstanding, with ABS, front, side and side curtain airbags available as standard along with driver’s knee airbags. Stability and tractions control are also included in an advanced ESP (Electronic Stability Program) system. So the car is attractive both inside and out, drives very well, is full of cutting edge modern technology and safety features and comes with a brilliantly designed engine that should increase how fast you go and how far you go whilst emitting and drinking far less. All these ingredients sound like they combine for the perfect supermini recipe and that is the case. The price for this car should start at around 14,000 pounds and shouldn’t get any higher than around 15,500 pounds, which is very reasonable.Perhaps the small size of the vehicle and its engines will put off American audiences, but if they give this little car a chance, they should fall in love with it. Fiat have produced a brilliant vehicle in the Punto Evo and America should take notice.
