Ferrari 430 Scuderia
Bella Maccina! The Ferrari F430 Scuderia is one beautiful machine. The Scuderia is a dedicated track-only model of Ferrari's F430, a sporty mid-rear engined berlinetta that combines ultra-nimble handling with blistering fast acceleration.
The Scuderia is aimed at the most passionate and performance-oriented drivers, who want to experience a Ferrari as it was meant to be on a race track.
Ferrari's engineers put the F430 on a diet to transform it into the Scuderia. Weight is the enemy of speed, so a Scuderia is stripped 100 kilos worth of non-essential interior and exterior trim, luxury items, air conditioning and so forth. When it's all over, the Scuderia has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.45 kilos per horsepower.
The naturally aspirated V8 pumps out 510 horsepower at 8500 rpm, about 27 more horses than a standard F430. That power is controlled by F1 Superfast management software for the sequential manual gearbox, which cuts gearchanges to just 60 milliseconds. To ensure that power gets transferred to the road as efficiently as possible, the new traction control system incorporates and electronic differential and the F1-Trac traction and stability control.
Keen-eyed enthusiasts will spot the cosmetic changes, including a set of narrow racing stripes, gold-colored lightweight wheels and carbon-fiber outside mirrors. There's also a deeper front airdam, high-mounted rear exhaust pipes and an aggressive carbon-fiber air diffuser at the rear.
The interior is covered in artificial suede and the high-bolstered seats look sturdy enough to withstand an endurance race.
The Scuderia features a Racing Manettino, a control device that gives the driver choices in suspension and transmission settings. The manettino appeared in several of Ferrari's road cars, but the 430 Scuderia features the special Racing version which puts the emphasis firmly on track-specific sporty driving and provides the driver with even more choice in terms of the car set-up.
With the manettino, the traction control can be switched off, but the stability control system remains activated to ensure a level of safety is maintained. Also, the suspension can be controlled separately from the predefined manettino settings. This allows the driver to maintain maximum performance even on irregular road surfaces. Ferrari Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher's input was invaluable in this aspect of the car's development.
With Schumacher's thoughts put into the design, the 430 Scuderia delivers both exceptional performance and fantastic driving pleasure w within reach of non-professional drivers.
Owning a Scuderia is entrance to an exclusive club. Only 250 cars will be available in the United States.
All owners who finance or lease their 430 Scuderia through Ferrari Financial Services will be offered a two-day driving course through the Ferrari Driving Experience in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. The course has been specially tailored to allow clients to fully explore the performance capabilities of their Ferrari in a controlled and safe environment.
