Experience Bike Riding in Rhode Island

From 3arf

One of the best areas of the eastern seaboard is the Ocean State, Rhode Island. The scenic ocean views and the panoramic autumn setting in the fall are simply amazing. If you are an avid biker and love to tour around anywhere in New England, the Ocean State is the way to go. There is miles of coastline to be enjoyed in the summer, spring and fall.

Scenic 1A heading towards Narragansett is a beautiful testimony to this road being called scenic. There are hundreds of trees and foliage that line this curvy road which makes for a picturesque ride towards the Atlantic Ocean. The most awesome part of 1A is the cool breeze. The temperature is a nice ten degrees cooler than inland which makes for great jacket weather even in the summer months. If you have a taste for seafood there are many stops to enjoy clam cakes, chowda', or even a two-pound lobster if you want. The stops along the way will enhance your riding experience while in Rhode Island

Another beautiful area is Route 102. This smooth riding road takes you through nine different towns in the smallest state in the union. This route, which is a state highway for sorts, is a wider road than scenic 1A, which provides a nice comfort zone in terms of riding and overall view of the land as you cruise. There are farms, fruit stands, orchards and such. Like any other rural area, you have to watch out for deer at certain times of the year. This rider-friendly highway is about fort-five miles and allows for speeds of 45-50 miles an hour.

Route 3 is a small highway in Rhode Island that runs parallel with route 95. This route was developed in the 1920's and many of the houses are still lining the road its entire length of about thirty miles. It is a country setting that sets the tone for the New England area and what cruising around here is all about. There are diners and many roads that will lead you to route 1A to the ocean.

The one thing these roads have in common is their popularity among bikers. You are guaranteed to get worn out waving to fellow bikers along your way. As with every New England setting you will not be disappointed with the changing leaves in the fall or the sounds of summer as you cruise on through in July. There are friendly faces and good riding and even if you're a stranger, you're a friend here in Rhode Island.
