Events in London to Celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee
The entire UK and the Commonwealth nations are waiting for the festivities that will commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the reign of Her Royal MajestyQueen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth II ascended to throne on 6 February 1952, while her coronation took place on 2 June 1953. The Queen will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee on 2 June 2012. She is only the second British Monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee. The celebrations for the event will start on 2 June and continue until 5 June. A series of festivities have been planned by the British Government and other organizations to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Saturday- 2 June 2012:
The Epsom Derby:
The official celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will begin on Saturday, 2 June 2012 at the Epsom Derby. The Queen will grace the race with her presence, while singer Katherine Jenkins will sing the National Anthem.
Sunday- 3 June 2012
Jubilee Lunch:
A number of small and large communities of the UK will organize street lunch parties to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. The biggest lunch of this event will be held at London's Piccadilly. It will make its way throughout London in the form of a procession, and different lunches throughout the city will join the procession in the areas in which they are held.
River Thames Boating Pageant:
A flotilla of boats will be assembled on the River Thames consisting of thousands of boats across the UK. The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will travel in the Royal Barge, which will be the leading boat of the flotilla procession.
Monday- 4 June 2012:
BBC Concert:
A grand concert will be held at the Buckingham Palace in which renowned singers, dancers and performers from around the world will grace the stage to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee event. The concert will be televised live throughout the UK via BBC. Ticket shall be made available to UK citizens through lucky draws held throughout the country.
Diamond Jubilee Beacons:
In respect of the Queen, the entire nation will light a network of 2,012 beacons across the UK and the Commonwealth. The Queen will light the National Beacon at the Buckingham Palace.

Final Day Celebrations:
The final day’s events of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration include a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, two receptions and a lunch at Westminster Hall, a procession ending at Buckingham Palace, and finally, the balcony appearance of the Queen and other members of the Royal family.
