Easy Ways to keep your Car looking new

From 3arf

As soon as a car leaves the factory it begins to fall apart. In ten short years your $20.000 car could be reduced in value to $100.00 or even less. What can you do to keep your car looking good as it ages?

There are several things you can do to keepyour car looking goodyear in, year out. With effort there is no reason a five or even a ten year old car cannot look as good as it was when it left the factory.

The first thing you can do is keep the bodywork polished. Wax polish will do a number of things to keep that paintwork looking fresh. Firstly, the wax in the polish will have prevented oxidization. This is a process where the paintwork will fade and look lack-lustre.  Most cars these days have a layer of lacquer over the paint. The wax will also help prevent the lacquer from cracking and peeling away from the bodywork.

Wax polish will also help in damp climates and prevent rain and water settling on the car. Water can encourage rusting and should be wiped away from the bodywork as often as possible.

The heat of the summer can have a detrimental effect on plastics, and here too wax polish will help delay denaturing of plastic such as found in door mirrors.

You can preserve the car seats by putting on seat covers. Most seats wear thin with the movement of the body as you sit in the car. Bucket seats are particularly prone to wear on the seat edges. Seat covers can take the strain leaving the actual seats in pristine condition.

All small pieces of plastic trim inside and out of the car should be repaired as soon as things become loose or fall off. It doesn’t take many missing pieces of trim for the car to begin to look tatty. The same applies if you lose a wheel hub.  Cars can look very tatty with a missing wheel hub exposing a bear often black wheel.

A silicon polish is very good for bumpers and other rubberised parts of the car which can fade and lose their colour as the years pass. The final thing you can do to preserve the car is to keep it in the garage when not in use. This will keep the car out of the weather and damaging ultra violent light.
