Decorating Living Room for Thanksgiving
Decorating Your Living Room for Thanksgiving
The living room is usually the first room guests see. If you are having guests over for Thanksgiving, you may want to decorate your living room with Thanksgiving decorations. Decorations set the mood for the gathering.
When you decorate your living room for Thanksgiving, you want to choose a focal point of the room. The focal point does not have to be the center of the room. The focal point can be anywhere. You will want to take a section of your living room that you want to have seen and decorate it.
You may have an antique bookshelf that you would like noticed. You can decorate it for Thanksgiving. Make enough room on the shelves for decorations or put the decorations on the top of the bookshelf. Try to make the bookshelf stand out with more decorations than the rest of the room.
If you have chosen a focal point, to get the focal point noticed you will need to fill it full of more decorations than the rest of the room. Put a decoration on it that will grab your attention away from any other decorations in the room. You decorate the most at the focal point and then, sparsely decorate around the rest of the room.
Remember that your eyes and the eyes of your guests will be drawn to whatever is bright and decorated. Choose your decorations based on where you want the attention to be in your living room.
Thanksgiving decorations to use:
Turkeys - Turkeys are cute decorations for Thanksgiving. You can buy them for as little as a dollar at the Dollar Tree on up at Sear's, JC Penney's, Wal-mart, Bealle's, and even Macy's. The turkeys come in an array of glosses. You should try to buy the shiniest or glossiest one for your focal point and matte finished ones for around the room.
Flowers - Flowers can be used as a centerpiece or just as a decoration. You can even purchase imitation flowers that you can lay out without putting them in vases for simple decorations. If you are using a flower centerpiece in your dining room, you may want to use the same type of flowers for the living room.
Cornucopia- A cornucopia can be any size. For a focal point you will want the decoration to be bigger than the rest. Buy or make a large cornucopia for a focal point decoration. If you are going to use cornucopia as a Thanksgiving decoration around your house, you can buy or make smaller ones. I do not suggest just using cornucopia as a themed decoration in your living room. It will become dull and overbearing.
Centerpieces - It is okay to use centerpieces as Thanksgiving decorations in your living room. If you are going to use centerpieces remember to make sure the centerpiece or any decoration is visible. Make sure that the focal point has a larger, brighter, more eye appealing centerpiece than the rest of the room. Then, the other centerpieces can be smaller and less exuberant.
When you are decorating your living room for Thanksgiving remember the focal point, and a large or eye-catching decoration for the focal point. Your living room will look great with these tips.
