Christmas Gifts for under 500 for a Man
From 3arf
When it comes to gift shopping, guys sure can be difficult at times! It can be a chore trying to find a gift that he will actually like and be willing to use on a regular basis. This chore is further thwarted by having a limited budget or limited time-frame for shopping. If you are faced with this dilemma, then allow the Christmas elves to offer some gift ideas that will not break the bank (all under$5).
- Mug. During the holidays it is easy to find themed coffee mugs on sale. Get your guy a new, cool mug to show off his personality at work or at the breakfast table. If he drinks a lot of coffee, then he will really appreciate this thoughtful gift. Hidden motive: if he has a favorite mug that has seen better days, (the one that has the chipped handle and cracks on the inside) then offer him a nice new one that he can proudly show off. An alternative to a regular mug is a travel mug so he can have his coffee on the way to work/school.
- Scarf. No matter how macho the guy is, no one likes getting cold. Get him a gift he can really warm up with; a scarf that matches his winter coat is sure to hit a home run. A nice, warm scarf is just the right gift for guys that spend a lot of time outside working or playing, in the cold weather. Scarves are not just fashion accessories, they serve an important purpose: covering their neck and even part of their face. This can help reduce the chances of him getting sick during the cold winter months.
- Travel shave kit. You can find pre-made kits in the travel section at most stores or you can make one yourself by choosing items he can use and will like. Ideas for a do it yourself kit include: disposable razors, shave gel/cream, aftershave, small hand towel and a case of some sort. Most of these items can be purchased inexpensively ($5 or less) at your local dollar store. These kits are the perfect gift for guys that travel frequently.
- Trading cards. It does not matter what the guy's age is, most of them seem to enjoy collecting items from their favorite sports teams, musicians, video game or movie. Trading cards cover much more than baseball these days. There are even trading card games available nowadays. Trading cards are available in packs and range in price from just a buck to well, rather expensive, depending on the subject matter. Who knows, maybe you can get him started on a fun and interesting hobby.
- Body spray. This is a great gift for the guy on the go, most body sprays can also double as deodorant, therefore your guy can freshen up no matter where he is or how tight his schedule. One word of warning: guys may like women to smell like flowers or a fruit tree, but they generally do not want to smell like that themselves! You can find full size cans for under $5, however you might consider getting him a couple of smaller cans, that way he can take it with him when he is away from home. Another reason to consider buying a couple of travel size cans is that you can get him two different scents so he will have a little variety.
- Calendar. This is not as cheesy as it sounds! Think about it, you can get a calendar featuring pictures of just about anything you can think of, right? Well, if your guy likes cars or trucks or sports, you are covered by getting him a calendar. No matter what his interest, you will find a calendar that pictures it. Most stores start carrying new calendars around Halloween, and for pretty decent prices too! Check your local dollar store for their selection of calendars for around $1. You could get him a couple different calendars; one for his home work space and one for his "man cave".
If you are at your wits end with trying to find an inexpensive Christmas gift for the men on your shopping list, do not throw in the towel just yet. Head down to your dollar store and check out some of the suggestions mentioned above and who knows, you might just spot the perfect gift!
