Chevy Traverse
There’s no doubt you’ve seen the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse commercials. Chevy boasts about the Traverse’s impressive safety rating, comfortable seating capacity and 24 mpg highway fuel rating. Through these commercials Chevrolet is not doing this vehicle justice. In fact, one of the best selling features of the Traverse is also Chevrolet’s biggest secret.
The Traverse is over 100 cubic feet larger than its sister, the Chevrolet Tahoe!
Why would Chevrolet choose to keep this fact a secret? Perhaps it’s the 10k premium it charges for the smaller Tahoe’s well known image. In fact, according to chevy.com, the only measurement on it’s Tahoe that is larger than the Traverse is the front seats which are 2 inches wider.
With regard to the Chevy commercials, this driver finds the Traverse’s city fuel economy close to 18 miles per gallon and no complaints with the seating capacity. One Houston family recently piled four adults, one child, two dogs and two weeks worth of luggage into their Traverse for a cross country trip and couldn’t have been more pleased with the accommodations for the trip.
The Traverse has state of the art options including OnStar, satellite radio, hands free calling, 7 or 8 passenger seating, 2nd row DVD player, built in navigation, lumbar support, blind spot mirrors, rear view camera, and leather seats. This seating capacity and comfort is no doubt the reason the 2010 Winter Olympics chose the Traverse as the official vehicle in Vancouver.
Is the Traverse for you?
If safety, convenience, technology, storage and seating capacity are important to you this vehicle is likely your best choice. The closest competition to the Traverse is presently the Ford Flex. While the Flex does offer hands-free technology to give the Traverse a run for its money, the appearance of Traverse along with all other considerations wins out overall. Chevy worked hard to keep the Traverse affordable for all families and continues to offer incentives to buyers including a current $2,000 cash allowance or 0% interest for up to 60 months for qualified buyers.
The Traverse starts at $29,224 with up to 15k in options available. Chevy offers a 100,000 mile/5 year powertrain warranty and more cargo space than any competitor. The Traverse’s 24 mpg rating is the highest of any 8 passenger vehicle.
“Traverse… quite simply is one of the best vehicles- not just crossovers- on the market today.”
