Cheap Car Paint
That electric green Toyota Camry might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but if you want to switch to something that doesn't send pedestrians into seizures, and you want to do it on a budget, it is possible to do it economically.
Painting a car can cost thousands of dollars depending on the paint, the car and even the color. Add those classy racing stripes or flames and the price goes up even more.
Get a fresh coat of paint for $100 or under with these quick and easy steps. And remember: why pay a lot when you can pay a little?
1) Lower your expectations. Quality costs money, paint doesn't...as long as you don't want quality paint. See how that works? When quality falls a little lower on the priority list the price will fall as well.
2) Do it yourself. After all, how hard can painting be? Even kids in kindergarten do it. Grab a brush and a bucket of paint and the work is done, right? And remember, spray paint is the lazy man's paintbrush. Put your mind to it and your car will have a new coat of paint in an afternoon.
3) Outsource. Ok, so maybe it is a little silly to suggest that you paint your own car. In that case, everyone has a cousin looking for a little extra money who swears they can paint a car, or at least that they saw one painted once (isn't that all it takes?). Why would they lead you astray? See if you can get them to do the job for $50 and a six-pack. (bonus if you can get them to share the six-pack)
4) While we're talking about getting someone else to do it, even better is tricking someone else to do it. Let someone borrow your car, then arrange for it to come back with a scratch or some sort of paint damage that can't be fixed with a simple touch-up. Graciously forgive them and promise them you don't mind at all, then watch them offer to pay for the re-painting.
5) Or, you could head to Maaco. Getting your car painted is the kind of thing you want to make sure you get done right. There's a spectrum of body shops that will paint your car, and there's a spectrum of quality and price. Prices range based on the car and even the color of paint you want. Do research, look around, get a number of quotes and ask around for recommendations. Then, be willing to pay a little more than $100, especially if you like your car or plan to resell it.
6) If you're still unsure of what to do, start back at number one.
