While the wedding cake will normally be on the to-do list of a bride, the stand for the cake is sometimes forgotten. It is also something you don’t want to spend a fortune on or by the time you get to the stand your budget can be stretched to the limit. Fortunately, there are many ways around this problem.
Borrow a Cake Stand
If you have a traditional wedding cake it might be a good idea to ask around as some of your older family members might just have what you need to display your cake so your guests can appreciate the beauty. You can always decorate it with flowers or fabrics like silk and ribbon to fit in with your theme. Even if the stand is not that pretty nobody has to know. Just make sure that the stand is solid so it does not tip over.
Buy an Expensive Cake Stand
If money is not option and you want something elaborate there are many sites on the Internet where you can get whatever your heart desires. You will find revolving stands, water fountain stands and even some that have 10 cascading tiers. You can have a different cake on each tier.
Be Creative
Some people prefer something less elaborate and less expensive or something that show their interests or personalities. A couple who both loved surfing opted for a small surfboard to display their wedding cake while another couple used a tree trunk. There are as many options as you can imagine.
Something Unusual
Instead of having a traditional wedding cake many brides, have individual cupcake size wedding cakes or chocolates for each guest. There are a variety of ways these can be displayed. You can use boxes of different heights that you cover with a layer of exquisite fabric such as silk or chiffon. The individual cakes can be arranged in different patterns on top of these boxes. Flowers and any other decorative materials can be used to decorate the display even more. This won’t cost you much and will be something completely different.
Don’t feel you have to limit yourself to what is traditionally used. It is your big day and you have to choose what you feel comfortable and happy with.
If you really feel you are not creative enough to come up with your own idea for a cake stand ask advice from your cake designer. Explain to the person what you like and discuss a few ideas. These people are usually very creative and resourceful and might have even have the perfect stand to fit your wedding cake.
