Even though the person selling the four wheeler says that it is great condition and runs good. That does not mean that there is nothing wrong with it. There are a few things that to be checked. Those are the brakes, reverse, steering, the type, and how well it rides.
The first that must be done is you need to ask to turn it on and ride it. If they no then more than likely it is not in condition. When you are allowed to ride. Get on and ride around for a few minutes. Take it over a few little hills. If it handles good for you, then that means it rides well.
Just because it rides well does not mean that you should automatically buy. The steering also needs to be checked. If you are able to turn it with ease for you, then the four wheeler has good steering. If you are not able to turn it very well then it might not be the right the right one for you. Are you might need get more arm strength to be able to steer it.
Another thing that needs to be checked on it is the reverse, if it has one. Even tough it rides well forward, it might not ride well in reverse. It might not even go in to reverse. If it can not go into reverse. That means that every time you need to back up, you would have to get off and push it backwards. If it can't go into reverse then more than likely the gears around will need to be changed.
One of the most important things that needs to be checked is the brakes. The brakes good wind up saving your life. If you buy with bad breaks and you ride it, you may have to suddenly stop. If you can not stop then you may become involved in a serious accident. To check the brakes. start up the four Wheeler, don't go any where. Stand up on it on push the brakes down. If you a grinding then that means that the brakes will need to be replaced. To check the front brakes, slowly move the four wheeler froward. Then apply the brakes. You don't to fast, just in the brakes are not good.
