Better Job Hunt
There are so many job search sites available that its hard to determine which of these sites are reliable and which one will just be sending you a ton of spam or pointless job offers from an insurance company. Thankfully there ways to find reliable sites, but unfortunately there is only a few that are actually reliable.
The obvious would be to avoid sites like Monster Job and Career Builder. The most common story you will hear will be about those who applied for over +500 that that they qualified for with the only response being from pointless offers for insurance jobs (or a career similar) and a ton of spam in your inbox.
Also, Monster rarely lists any information to personally contact the employer to follow up on your application. All you have to rely on is Monster job, which will guarantee no one will call you back. Sometimes though their is a link to a company's application page (hence you did not need Monster). In the end you will be waiting for days wondering what happening with your resume or application. After two weeks you will start the process all over again.
But the biggest joke will be options to pay for enhanced services. According to their service this will better a person's chance of finding employment. This would be a nice way of them charging you while they spam you, while you're desperately looking for employment during a troubling economy.
So what is the better alternative?
Try websites that don't need to you to apply or register for anything. The only exception to this is USAJobs.gov, this the governments official site for those searching employment with the government. They offer positions from the Forest Rangers, DEA, FBI, Park Services, just to name a few. You have to sign up but you will not have your inbox bombarded by a ton of spam.
For the alternative to government jobs and not signing up for anything would be Craigslist. Unlike Monster or other job sites, Craigslist offers a variety of jobs in your location with direct contact with the employer. A lot of these jobs have links to their website or an email to send your resume.
Plus there are more success stories regarding Craiglist then any other job sites, plus your inbox will not be stuffed with spam or any pointless emails from an insurance job. This direct contact will make it easier for any one who is seeking employment using the internet.
So when you're looking for the "perfect job", then just go to Craiglist.com and directly contact employers regarding a position. You are more likely to get a response from some one or you can call the employer directly and talk to them regarding any information. It's better than deleting all the spam in your inbox.
