Many may wonder which personality types make the best managers but the truth of the matter is, it doesn't really matter what type of personality a person may have. What matters is how you use the strengths of your particular style to be an effective leader. Extroverts
Many extroverts have the ability to make people feel warm and welcome. They may be interested in you and what makes you tick. They may ask questions and probe into your personal lives. Talking is one of their most favorite things to do and they will also spend time discussing the job, the tasks required and can be known to be very outspoken as to the performance of their employees. They can be excellent at conducting meetings, seminars and group discussions as they have no fear of public speaking and often thrive on being the center of attention.
Introverts
Introverts can be very intuitive, sensing problems with the staff, procedures and safety issues before anyone else realizes there are any. They can quietly but effectively lead by example and their silence at an infraction can sometimes be worse than a lengthy lecture. Introverts are often underestimated because they are usually very quiet and unassuming. Never let that fool you - they can be ultra-observant and able to catch small mistakes and minute details quickly and easily. They are sensitive to the needs and feelings of their subordinates and often know what management expects of them before management knows themselves. They are usually excellent at one-on-one conversations and work relationships and can be so thorough at doing so that lengthy meetings are sometimes not even necessary.
Personality types should not be a factor in determining whether an individual will be a good manager. There are many excellent leaders in this world who were once told that they did not have the right traits to become what they did and achieve what they were able to.
