It can be quite awkward working with a colleague who is attracted to you. The twenty- first century world of work has laid down laws which prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace and protects the rights of all employees. It is important to be aware of the signs before deciding that a colleague is attracted to you. The feeling could be mutual which may work out very well or you may not feel the same way about the colleague which can create problems in the long run, so it needs to be 'nipped in the bud' immediately.
Here are some signs that a colleague may be attracted to you:
The collegue is always around you and makes excuses to work with you or asks obvious questions just to initiate conversation.
He/She complements you on your attire or make up.
The colleague wants your cellphone number, bbm pin or sends you frequent invites on Face book and Twitter. This can be rather annoying if you are not interested and it is advisable to ignore his/her invites on social networking sites if you do not want to be bothered outside of work.
The collegue cannot take his/her eyes off you when you walk into a room, and admires you from a distance.
There are rumours going around the office that you have a secret admirer. The colleague may have also confided to someone who he/she trusts that he/she has feelings or is attracted to you.
He/she keeps calling you even when you have stepped out of the office.
The colleague suggests that you'll get together and have lunch together or attend a social event after work. It is advisable at this stage to be straight forward with the colleague and let him/her know where you stand in regards to being attracted to him/her.
He/she wants to discuss issues of a sexual nature which may not be appropriate in the office environment. He/she admirers your body or outfit and compliments you on a regular basis. Be aware that comments about your body and indecent touching of a sexual nature is considered sexual harassment and needs to be reported to your supervisor immediately.
The colleague smiles and greets you every morning. This could also be that he/she is very well mannered but if he/she makes an attempt to do this every morning without failure it could be a sign that he/she is attracted to you.
These are just some of the signs that a colleague could be attracted to you. It is advisable to speak to the colleague if you are married or in a relationship or don't feel attracted to him/her, but if you are then go for it and have fun!
