Are Employees too Scared to take Sick Days
Yes, and for good reason. Many companies are becoming too strict. This is due to the fact that many employees take their sick days for granted. They may want to go to a party so they say call in sick. The same employees may be doing this quite often. When specific employees have done this more than just a few times these employees may be written up. Employers don't want to be unfair. Employers see and hear about their employees who frequently missing work. They sometimes have to change some rules. When this happens good employees suffer.
A good employee wants to keep their good work record clean. They try hard to do their best. They also care about getting their job done as efficiently and quickly as possible. Simply, a good employee cares about everything that has to do with their job.
There are many employees who take their jobs for granted. They miss work a lot. These types of employees hurt the good employees. When employees continue to show lack of respect for the jobs actions will be taken, however innocent employees will suffer.
If employers feel that too many employees have been abusing sick days, repercussions will follow. Different rules will be made. Stricter harder rules that will lead good employees to much frustration. There are many employees that want to make a good impression with their employers. These hard workers will have to work even harder at staying a good employee.
Employees are scared to miss work due to illness. Some employees may even try to go to work sick for fear of points being taken away from them. Many company's have a point system. This point system, probably only allows each employee a certain amount of sick days. When employees have missed more than is allowed, a warning or termination will soon follow.
When irresponsible employees chose to be irresponsible, it makes the responsible employees scared. It would help many employees stay focus on doing their job the if they didn't have to worry about getting written up or fired.
Rules need to be followed. Punishments should be given. It would be more beneficial to the employers if they could set different rules based on a each employee's job performance. If an employee has proved themselves worthy as a good employee, good work should be rewarded. An employer could allow this type of an employee more sick days with bonuses for appreciation.
Many individuals strive for excellence in their line of business. They want to build their job on a strong foundation and keep it. Good employees shouldn't have to fear if they are sick and have to miss work. Employees will get sick and probably pass germs on to their fellow co-workers. This leads to absenteeism. If employers rules are too strict, faithful, hard working employees jobs may be on the line.
It's not easy these day, when trying to make good impression on employers. Rules need to me adjusted to fit the crime. If someone misses three or four times a year due to an illness, this should be considered. If an employee come to work faithfully, misses only when necessary, this is a hard worker. Hard workers shouldn't have to suffer for employees that shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Employers need to screen their future employee better.
Good jobs are hard to find, however good employees are hard to find too. Employees need appreciation. They need to feel they're irreplaceable. Employers need to think about all the sacrifices their good employees have made for their company. Ask themselves how long would it take to replace such dedication?
Employers need to be fair. It's only the right thing to do.
