Acura Legend 1995 Acura Legend Acura Rl
The Acura Legend of the mid 90's is considered a classic car by most. Its superior handling and roomy feel is ideal for the average car enthusiast. The Acura Legend's last year, before changing into the Acura 3.5RL was considered its best, 1995.
The Acura Legend, sold as the Honda Legend outside of the United States originally debuted in 1986, and stayed on the market until 1995. Despite this, it is still sold as the Honda Legend outside of the United States, but in the US the new name is the Acura RL.
The vehicle was available in both a sedan and a coupe model, and was redesigned in 1991. That design was kept (with slight modifications in between years) up until 1995. After the name was changed in the US to the RL, it underwent a major redesign, which made it into almost a completely different car. Many feel that this decision by Acura was the wrong on, as the Legend was extremely popular, and still is today.
This year Legend(as well as the 1991-1994 models) had two different engine options. You could get the type I engine, which had 200 horsepower, or the type II engine, which had 230 horsepower. There were many different options for the Legend, and depending on which one you bought, decided which engine you received. There was a Legend Base, Legend L, Legend LS, and The Legend GS. All of those models were shipped in both coupe and sedan, except for the GS(there was only a sedan for this model). The GS was the highest of the models, containing the type II engine, and many other add-ons that the lower models didn't have, such as power passenger seat, heated seats, and car phone. The Acura Legend had features that some luxury cars today still don't even have. The car was way before it's time in terms of luxury options.
Acura's are well known because of their excellent reliability, and their affordable luxury. This car is considered by many, to be a near perfect vehicle. It's smooth, quiet, roomy, and handles like a dream. Give it some gas, to really hear those 200 (or 230 if Type II engine) horses pick up.
In conclusion, if you see a good condition legend for sale near you, I encourage you to test drive it, as I am sure you will like it. There is nothing like it on the road today, not even the car that replaced it can compare. I actually still drive one today, and am still in love with it. I have driven some fancy cars, including much new Mercedes, Lexus' and more, and nothing compares to the handling and feel of the Legend. The RL will never be what the legend is today.
