ALT-8 Should we still be Buying Suvs – Yes
Yes. I drove a Toyota Camry Wagon in college. Eventually, I out-grew that vehicle. I upgraded to a Toyota Avalon. This was a great car but I'm 6'5" and the room that this car had wasn't enough.
I was fortunate enough to purchase a Chevy Tahoe and found that this was exactly what was needed. The utility in this vehicle was splendid.
SUV's make you feel safer than most vehicles. The feeling of sitting up high in the cockpit allows you to see the road at least three or four seconds ahead of you. This enables you to react to suddenly braking traffic or disabled vehicles that can put a damper on your commute.
There are many advantages to having an SUV depending on which one is purchased. Some of them are equipped with entertainment systems with optional flat screen in the sun visor that will settle the kids on long road trips. They have enough room to prevent any battles for toys that may escalate. Some are able to seat 9 passengers along with substantial cargo space.
As for gas mileage, try looking into a new exhaust system. I found that a new exhaust increases horsepower and improves mpg.
The SUV trend is not going anywhere because bigger is better. Everybody wants to command the road. What better way to travel? The ride is almost hypnotic and the comfort that you experience is impeccable. The bigger engine allows you to accelerate past your driving peers at high levels, literally.
SUV's are very fun to drive.
When you consider buying an SUV, there has to be a need for versatility. People enjoy having options. This vehicle gives you two overall options. One is the capability of transporting many passengers if the situation requires it. Secondly, you have the ability to eliminate a portion of the seating and transform the SUV into a light duty pick-up truck without having to borrow your uncle's Ford Ranger.
Having an SUV places you into a community of individuals who generally have the same things in mind for their family and friends. Its pleasant to ride alone but when you are able to load up the family or a few friends and comfortably hit the town, a good SUV will be perfect for the task.
This concept has a grasp on society that will make it extremely difficult to fathom purchasing a $40,000 car without taking a look at a vehicle that will provide the utility, stability, and convertibility that people look for when making a long term auto investment.
