ALT-8 Should Hummers be Outlawed for Road Travel – No
The Hummer is one of the best selling cars in the United States of America. Anyone who proposes outlawing the Hummer are either the conventional politicians called Republicans and Democrats and their followers who love to regulate anything under the skies. The United States of America was supposed to be created for the purpose of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and there are people who love to ride around the country on a Hummer. The majority of the people who bought a little freedom by buying a Yugo were able to trade their Yugos for used Hummers in certain body shops since the Hummer is great for road travel.
I do not like to use the word hate but I hate the idea of banning Hummers. If people love Hummers and want to buy it to enjoy the open roads, let them. For the Environmentalists who also want to ban Hummers from the roads, it is an act of hypocrisy since there are environmentalists who call for a ban on Hummers while they own trucks, vans, minivans, or the so called SUV's which they use and consume as much gasoline or petrol as the average Hummer.
In fact, there are people who want to ban Hummers from the roads and they are called The Earth Liberation Front. The Earth Liberation Front is a radical group who want to liberate the Earth from Hummers. In the year 2003, this Earth Liberation Front committed acts of arson against Hummer Dealerships and leaving a message saying: "Big Fat Americans". It is because of the actions of the Earth Liberation Front that I am more than ever against banning Hummers. No politician, no terrorist, and no ecological hypocrite has the right to take away the freedom of the person to drive his or her Hummer on the road.
For those who want to ban the Hummer from Road Travel citing safety issues such as the webpage Your Lawyer.com which talked about three reports of wheels falling off a Hummer H2, the Hummer has been designated as one of the safest cars on the road by organizations such as Motor Trends, Cars Direct, and Carfax. If I had the money, I would buy the Hummer because of its built, its safety features, and because they are many times better than a Toyota, Nissan, or a Cadillac. Until the time comes when I can buy a Hummer and enjoy the freedom it provides, I will have to settle for my other favourite car which is the Chevrolet.
For the people who want to ban Hummer, all I have to say is that they want to ban freedom and indidivualism.
