ALT-7 Motorcyclists should always Wear Helmets – Agree
I'm at an impasse on this one, I aways wear a helmet when I ride but I'm Also for freedom of choice. Personally I think you have to be a fool not to wear a helmet but thats just my opinion. There is an old saying amongst bikers."there are those who have gone down and those who are about to." so that being said, why take the risk.Riding is dangerous enough on are roads, it seams like bikers have a bullseye sewn onto the backs. My bike has been modified with the loudest exhaust pipes I could find. Not because I like the sound or to impress my friends, I did it so people in cars can hear me coming and not run me off the road because I was in a blind spot.I have personally Been down twice, both times the driver of a car cut in front of me. I had a choice, let the bike go and pray or T-bone the car cutting me off. the first accident I slid into the car (shortly after my bike did) and bounced my head off the cars rear fender, the Helmut took most of the damage. The second Time I again threw the bike, but when I hit the ground I bounced up instead of sliding and came down right on the brain bucket. Thank God I had my helmet on or I'd be taking my food intravenously or worse a very long dirt nap.Now again I'm in favor of freedom of choice, if you want hair blowing in the breeze on the open road, I think you should have the right to. The government and lawmakers should not dictate to us are choice of safety equipment we wear or use. All cars come with seat belts, most people use them, some do not, by choice. I agree that we should use them as I always do, but I don't want someone telling me that I have to.Simple facts, seat belts and motorcycle helmets save lives I'm not going to tell you to use them, all I'm saying is that they make sense. If I see you on down the road I'll give you a wave, helmet or no helmet.
