ALT-7 Are Hybrid Cars Cool or Uncool – Cool
I am glad that someone has bought up this debate: Why care about what image a hybrid car will give it's owner, If image is relative then I would have to say that for the people who have; or are interested in getting a hybrid car, then I would see them as being COOL. Cool as in cooling the planet from harmful emissions.
Once again the 21st centuries rule on what is "the now" and "do I look god in this" rares it's ugly head, why do we always need to bring it down to how the driver would look to their peers If you have a hybrid car, this to me says you care about the planet we live on and are willing to help in anyway possible to help with reducing emissions globally. What I would be more inclined to worry about is the structural design of the car and the colour rather than how it is powered. We all know that if you see a Barina for example, that this is classed as a "girls" car, due to the size shape and colours. No straight man will buy this type of car for fear of being ostracised.
Image has caused the world to look at it from one perspective, which I would class as the wrong perspective. For example, when you look for a pet, people tend to go for the "pretty" because this is the image they have perceived from the world that this is a must. Another good analogy of image would be painting a fence. You will notice that people paint there fence either brown green or white, this is not a rule of thumb but because people have been using them for so long this is the image society has portrayed as the norm. This is why I feel that if you really care how you would look in a hybrid car, then I would consider you a very shallow person who needs to rethink the world around them.
What people need to remember is that if we keep tracking the way the human race is that we are going to drive ourselves to extinction, but as long as we look good when that time comes, then that's all that matters. Vanity is certainly driving this message, and as this needs to be stopped. People need to stop caring about what other people think and care more about what is important in life.
I would be proud to own a hybrid car knowing the fact that I am contributing to a healthy cause. In fact I wish they would hurry up and release the hybrid cars so that I am able to go and get one. I wouldn't care about how I looked cause all I would be thinking about is making it from point A to point B in one piece.
