ALT-6 Website Reviews Valentinescom
Let's face it, on Valentines Day, we all go scrambling for something unique and special for our honey. It does get tough trying to think of something different every year. Enter Valentines.com. It is a site dedicated to finding just the right gift and also offers other tips for making the day special. I surfed on over to the site to have a look. This is what I found.
Valentines.com on first glance looks more informative than it actually is. The layout however is attractive and user friendly. The main categories on the site are;
- Chocolate
- Flowers
- Jewelry
- Lingerie
- Destinations
- Romantic Dinners
- Miscellaneous Gift Ideas.
At the bottom of the page is even a link "I love you" in different languages.
All of the categories, except miscellaneous offer little information and no links. Some little tidbits of info are the only contribution for the most part. Miscellaneous Gift Ideas is the most comprehensive category on this site. It offers stories, hints and tips and scads of gift ideas. Like the other categories, however, it offers no links. There are many openings for advertisement space on the site. If it is a newly developed website, I would hope the "Place your ad here" spots will fade. It can get distracting after a while.
The potential of this site is phenomenal. There is so much more the creator can do. I would suggest adding links. With a little research this could be an invaluable site. I would also suggest a "stories" category which would avoid the clutter on the Miscellaneous Idea page. Perhaps a contest would inspire and grow readership. Reader contributions are another asset.
I am hoping it is the intent of the creator of this site to expand on it. As stated, there is much potential. In fact, I, for one, would love to be a part of the development team because it offers so many possibilities for the creative mind.
As a visitor to the site, I would have to give it a rating of 2 of 5. The criteria being;
- Content*Layout and navigation*Potential*Usefulness*Probability of return visits
More creativity and research are needed for this site to live up to its potential, but it is off to a wonderful start. It is my hope that the site developers work quickly to ensure the transition. It's a nice site to visit, but could be so very much more than it is. Once completed, the site could be a tool people could use through out the year and not just Valentines Day. It's worth a look if you haven't visited already.
