ALT-5 Christmas 2007 Gift Ideas for Creative Teen Girls
It's natural to want to find the perfect gift to nurture the creative side of your teen girl, but the task can sometimes be difficult in this pre-packaged world. The first thing to do is discover where your teens creativity lies. Is she artistic in painting or drawing, talented in music, avid about sculpture or photography?
For the drawing inclined teen, a must have is a set of really good colored pencils. This may sound easy, but true artist colored pencils can easily run $100 for a high quality set. Any paints, brushes, easels they may need would also be a lovely gift.
One of my favorite gifts for history, fashion, and/or art inclined teen are adult coloring books. You can find them for certain periods in history, different fashions throughout time, different architecture in world, or different creatures from Mythology. I myself still love my "Fashions Of Ancient Egypt" coloring book my sister bought me five years ago!
A great gift can always be just accessories to their main object, be it camera or drums. There are a ton of little things that any musician, photographer, knitter, or jewelry maker needs, so figure out what your teen is really missing and get her that tripod or extra set of guitar strings.
Jewelry making is another common creative activity for teen girls. Buy her a set of really unique beads, or a large box of quality clasps. Grab a basket and fill it up with strings, beads, medallions, clasps, scissors and everything she needs to make her particular style of jewelry. The bead sets alone in different styles and colors can fill a basket full.
A great gift most people don't think of can be found in the "toys" section. But I would hardly call them toys. Thanks to the TV show "CSI", standing for Crime Scene Investigation, we now have CSI "toy" sets. There's a plastic skull that you build up muscle and skin on, finally perfecting a face and hair and placing plastic eyeballs, that lets your teen try her hand at facial reconstruction, science, and sculpting! More items in the series explore the scientific side of creativity and can be the perfect "I didn't know I wanted it until I had it" type of gift.
If her gift lies in writing, try a nice journal or set of Calligraphy pens. As silly as it seems, just a good set of writing pens can be a lovely surprise. Beautiful or fun stationary can be great too when given to the right person.
The most important thing to remember is that to buy the perfect gift for a creative teen girl, you have to get creative.
