How to determine if your tires need to be replaced is an important issue for car drivers. Tires can extremely hazardous if they are driven too far without being replaced.
If you are ever in doubt about the condition of your tires, take them to a gas station that does emission inspections. The attendants at the station can tell you immediately and at no charge to you if the tires need to be replaced.
Tires have little pieces of rubber sticking out the side of them. These are wear and tear indicators for the tires. If you examine the tire and these are nubs or nonexistent, the tires need to be changed.
There is a mileage recommendation for tires at the time of purchase. Write down the starting mileage when the tires are placed on the car and put in your glove box. When the tires reach the recommended mileage examine them to see if they need to be replaced.
Another indication that the tires need to be replaced is hydroplaning. Hydroplaning is when the tires run on water surface instead of making direct contact with the payment. The tires will have no grip. Hydroplaning is dangerous and you should replace the tires.
Examine the tires frequently. Tires have tread on them. Tread is the grooves in the tires. If the grooves are all even or have completely smooth areas, the tires need to be replaced quickly.
If the air pressure in the tire is not maintaining a steady level, it is time to replace the tire. Usually air pressure leaks are the result of internal tire damage. It is safer to replace the tire then to risk a blow out which can cause a wreck and injuries.If there are bubbles or raised sections of the tire change it immediately. Lumps in the sides of the tires mean that there is some type of internal problem with the tire. It is too risky to leave it on the car.
Uneven wear on tires is caused by improper tire alignment. Uneven wear means that different parts of the tires are not making pavement contact evenly. Your car can become shaky when driving. Some cars will make weird noises. If the tires have uneven wear, it is best to replace the tires and double check the alignment.
Check tires frequently to make sure that they do not need replacing. Check the tread grooves, tread markers and wear and tear on the tires. Make sure to not drive over the recommended mileage for the tires. Uneven wear or lumps in the tire can also be dangerous. It is better to replace a tire then to drive on it unsafely.
