ALT-5 Assessing the Efficiency of Job Search Websites

From 3arf

Recently, many companies and job hunters use the internet to advertise for their available vacancies, they use the internet alone or the use it along with other advertising methods. They use the internet because it has many advantages; like saving time and money and reaching a very large numbers of potential candidates.

Just the same, job hunting over the internet is a very good and fast way to locate an ideal job, and just like any other job search method, the efficiency of the job search websites depends on how qualified you are and how suitable you are for the job you are applying for.

To make the best of your online job hunting, you need to focus on what you're looking for, use proper keywords when searching, and register with complete and recent details on the recruitment agencies websites, that will save you time and effort when applying.

When using the internet to search for a job, always look for reliable websites, maybe ones that are governmental or recommended by someone trustworthy. Stay away from websites that requires any kind of payments. You may also consider visiting a company's website and apply directly. All the big firms have websites with recruiting sections on them.

The internet is a market for thousands if not hundreds of thousands of potential candidates like yourself. Take that into consideration when you are making your online application, it needs to be much more attractive than the ones you use for direct applying methods, because the number of competitors you're facing online is a lot more than you would be facing when applying by mail for example.

While applying for a job on the internet is considered more efficient in terms of time and effort, always remember to use whatever contact methods the recruiter is asking for. Don't use the internet if the hiring body asked for a faxed or a direct application, even if the internet was available for that recruiter, and vice versa. You may also want to think about using all the contact options the recruiter specifies in the advertisement. Meaning if the advertisement states that the company can be contacted via email and/or mail, you may want to do both.

Email, regular mail, fax or any other way of applying you chose to use, always remember that direct applications are stronger and have higher chances of getting the right attention. When applying through a recruiting agency, your application will be filtered twice, first by the recruiting agency, and if passed, it will be filtered again by the hiring body. Directed applications - if available - will minimize that to a single filtering process.
