ALT-5 Are High Fuel Prices necessary – No

From 3arf

High octane addictions are driving our economy to destruction. Our dependence on crude is insatiable. Now in the throws of gas inflation our pocketbooks are running on empty. How can we stop this fuel monster?

Despite the arguments, high fuel prices are unnecessary. From crude to kerosene oil-based fuels are over priced. You'll be surprised at how much of you money goes to waste. Summer gas pricing is predicting 4 dollars a gallon. Now lets cut the fat and look at what that gallon would look like lean.

Taxes, taxes, taxes we all complain about every tax. Our only rebuttal is it's necessary, but with studies showing America wastes 400 billion dollars of its yearly tax revenue are gas taxes really necessary? How much is Uncle Sam sipping from your tank, Fifteen percent on average. Now our 4$ has gone down to 3.40$ a gallon.

Where do those taxes drive to? It's not schools, roads, police, firemen, or any other public service. Congressional pork spending gives it back to oil companies with lobbyists greasing their palms. Perhaps you could get their attention with an outraged letter, on a 100 dollar-bill.

What if oil companies went non-profit, how much more could we reduce the price of gas. If our oil was pumped fresh without stuffing ceo's wallets for "pseudo-refining" we could take another 35 percent off, lowering our price per gallon down to two dollars, wow. Thats not everything though, one last thing.

OPEC, the monkey on our back. This billionaire run organization decided the price of crude. We can only speculate how much extra were paying for crude. So what is the real price, well guess how much gas costs per gallon in the mid east. Around 50-80 cents is the cost of a gallon of gas in the Mideast.

Thats something to think about. Yes I know there are you arguing about distribution costs and the advantages that ethanol offers. Just remember your taxes pay for the farming and refining of ethonol and then you pay for it by the gallon and that priced only seems low not because of taxes but because of gas. Yes gas easily pays for ethanol, we're just paying profit.

Ethanol is just refined whiskey.
