ALT-4 Thanksgiving Prayers and Blessings
Understandably, thanksgiving is the heritage of every society in this planet earth, but especially to the sons and daughters of the kingdom. One of the richest proverbs of my society says, "if you thank the porrage man, he will prepare another one." This is true in its entirty because when we appreciate the good or acts of kindness done to us by any person, it goes a long way to motivate that fellow to do more for us.
From this perspective, it is indeed important that God's children should learn how to express their gratitude to the Lord at any point in time. If our fellow man created by God can accept and be motivated by the expression of our gratitude to him, how much more God who is the maker of all things.
Thanksgiving prayers and blessings bestow us with more blessings and joy, and as well brings honour to God.The Psalmist said, "I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter his courts with joy...." This signifys that joy comes when we give thanks unto the Lord for all He has done. Our thanksgiving in this regard, should be a continous exercise as the worship leader Don Moen said, "For all You've done and all you're going to do, we give thanks and we bring our praise to you, we give thanks, we give praise...." In our thanksgiving, we must in prayer thank God and bless His holy name for all that He has done for us in the land of the living and all that He is going to do.
God gave us His only begotten Son and therefore, in our thanksgiving prayers we should ask for the salvation of others who are not yet born again. When we pray this prayer, God will do more for us. So in our thanksgiving prayers and blessings, let us remember to request the Lord to bless others who may have not received His blessings yet. It is only when we do so that we will be well positioned to receive more and more blessings from Him that loves and blesses us so much. SHALOM.
