Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time to give thanks to others; to be grateful for what you have and to be able to cherish the time with family. For so many, it's a time of dread; it's a time when the Thanksgiving preparer has to cook the turkey, potatoes, pies, and get ready for the day.
If you are the person that volunteered to have Thanksgiving at your house this year, you may be wishing you had kept quiet and let someone else do the volunteering. There are many simple ways to have Thanksgiving be a glorious day; a day you'll wish you had more often.
To prepare for Thanksgiving you need to remember that people are coming to your house to eat a meal and to spend time with each other; you don't need to break your back to make your house spotless. Your family wants to know that your house is lived in, have your family help you pick it up the night before and don't fret about it.
As for the meal, let your family help you. Make your family have fun with it, introduce new ideas for food and let them want to get involved. You could make fruit salad, that way your children can cut up the fruit while you prepare another dish. Thanksgiving can be a blessed day, if you want it to be. Don't stress yourself out about having everything perfect because, it's going to make you irritable along with everyone else.
There are many new dishes on the internet that are easy and simple to prepare, search the internet ahead of time, find a few dishes that will work and start planning. A major thing for you to remember is to have enough time to get everything done. Don't start the day of Thanksgiving and expect everything to fall into place, it will, but you'll be very irritable by the end of the day. Start preparing a week before, make a list of all the food you need, shop for this a few days before. Line everything up so on the big day you can relax and enjoy yourself.
Remember Thanksgiving doesn't have to be a time of dread, let it be a time of happiness and joy.
