ALT-3 Why Buy a Bmw
Let me take you back to Autumn 2005, not a bad year for some maybe a great year for others or maybe a terrible year for a small few. Well I was definitely in the small few sector as this was the time when I had to dispose of my beloved Mercedes S500L due to starting a new business venture and switch to the dreaded other German car manufacturer BMW. I know, I know I hear you all cry and gasp at how did things in 2005 go so wrong that I had to make the switch from driving beauty to bucket. That bucket became my 5 series BMW or 528I to be exact.
Let me tell you a thing about BMW's, I hate them I hate them so much I considered it to driving a bag of air. However that was then and this is now... After months of driving and i mean maybe three months If I had to put a number on it. This car has changed my mood and attitude towards BMW no end. I wouldn't drive anything else now, except a Porsche or Ferrari although this is unlikely unless a large lottery win comes my way..
I digress, Why the change of heart how did it happen and why are BMW so damn good even compared to the S class. The best way to explain this is in one word a BULL the car is a Damn Bull, it does everything it says on the tin and comes back for more. Once you get used to the characteristics, your love and loyalty's can change. I've had two mercs in my time and i can safely say they both started falling to bits from the first day I got them, the dealers cant fix them and they generally drive you mad every time you step foot in them and turn the key or press a button. Sure the seats fit real nice and the style has the neighbors asking how the hell can he afford that staring as you drive past, but the problem is there is always something wrong with the bloody things, no matter how great they look. I'm convinced BMW leads the way in supreme build quality and standard.
My advise buy one and never look back. I admit to have been a bit of a snob with my cars but I've been using my 5 series as a workhorse, it will drive from one end of the country and back in a heartbeat and take anything I throw at it. I've nearly done 170,000 miles in mine now and it still drive like new, hard to believe I know but I ain't selling it or trading it in so why would I lie. I have nothing to gain by telling untruths. Before I made the switch to the dark side, I had convinced my father to purchase a Mercedes SL500, although a lovely motor beyond a doubt and a thrill to drive but again there is always something wrong with the bloody thing.
I on the other hand have abused the beamer beyond belief and everyday it just comes back for more. Driving and owning a BMW is an acquired taste, like goats cheese. At first you just ain't sure about the flavor, sometimes its to rich or leaves a bad taste in your mouth but giving the right amount of time and with the correct dressing, you order every time your given the choice, even if your tempted by the special. Please note my BMW can be found on ebay at a very tempting price I will also take part cash or part exchange for a Mercedes.. Only joking, I'm still waiting for that lottery win.
