ALT-3 Website Reviews Valentinescom
"Helping you find the best way to show your love" is the catchy marketing phrase that is used by the clever Valentines.com. Except, the phrase should probably include helping you 'define' your love, because that is basically what this website does. We've got websites devoted to everything in the world, why not the 'holiday of love' as well? If you are at loss as to what to give the one that you love the most on V-day, this website has got you covered. It boasts colorful, easy to read paragraphs, with the hues representative of the subject (the chocolate page is written in brown). The site is promising, but seriously deficient.
With several varied pages containing loving 'themes', it allows small suggestions for everything from chocolate, to romantic dinners, to lingerie. Or, each page basically defines such themes. It doesn't do much more than a dictionary might in this case. The page that is labeled Miscellaneous is probably the most informative of the seven sub-pages, but even that is simple write-ins from the sites viewers with Valentines suggestions. while it is a cute idea, it doesn't exactly cover either the history of Valentine's day, nor what you might want to purchase for a loved one.
They have a few quaint advertisements, in the way of personalized gifts. This, you see, is a link to another website where you can, indeed buy for your loved ones. This site promises neatly personalized items that include bags, boxers, mugs, photo frames, and even caricatures (which is a great idea if you are willing to spend upwards of fifty dollars). Again, cute, but not exactly helpful.
However, their brilliant idea is not completely thought out. The website is s fine marketing technique, but once you click in, there's not much to see. About twenty minutes of time will allow you a thorough sweep through the entire site. The stories from the readers are not much different than the 'reflections' we share within Helium. The simple difference is that they are colorful and eye catching, yet not so easy to stare at, and a bit disruptive.
All in all, I would say that the website is a great idea, yet seriously lacking in all areas. It's not as helpful as it advertises to be. It is very informative in the way of defining what love is and means, but we can get that from a kiss! We don't need a website to tell us that chocolates are the greatest gift ever, and that dark chocolate is healthier than milk. We already know that flowers are timeless, and a safe way to go.
The home page, of course is detailed in heavenly pinks and reds, and easy to read, as well as being attractive. This, however is where is stops. It is easy to navigate, easy to read, but without any substance. Unless you are a rookie within this season of love, feel free to skip the site. If your curious and in need of entertainment, by all means check it out. You will not find anything that you do not already know.
