ALT-3 Tips for Hosting a Bachelorette Party
Being the one chosen to throw your friend a fantastic bachelorette party places you in a position of great responsibility and pressure as far as parties go. Between contacting people you've never met, buying appropriate party decorations and the right amount of alcohol, you've got a full plate. But don't fear! There are ways to plan a memorable party without losing your mind to strippers and Jell-O shots.
Assess the situation.
Is your girlfriend a real firecracker that's expecting the whole shebang? If so, you're going to have to go all out with decorations, shots, games, and gasp! - a stripper. As clich as it sounds, a lot of women want that last night of thrills before they tie the knot. This doesn't mean you should necessarily shoot of to Vegas so she can spend the night with the tannest gentleman caller on the strip but a local stripper with a sense of humor and some good looks wouldn't hurt her. But remember if the happy couple won't be so happy after you've booked your entertainment, forget it. You guys can find a hundred other ways to entertain yourselves!
Now on the other hand, if your bride-to-be turns green at the idea of a half-naked man in her presence, don't even think about it. Take it from a woman that's attended a party where the bride wanted absolutely nothing to do with it - it's a traumatizing and embarrassing moment for everyone.
Choose a theme.
More often than not, choosing a theme for your party can make the planning that much easier. Whether you're throwing a luau, monster movie, or rodeo themed event, you can always find all the supplies you'll need. Local party stores (or websites, for that matter) make party decorations and gifts in every shape and size. Keep in mind you may or may not need more than you plan on, as sometimes you'll get surprise guests. Be sure to make it special for your head bachelorette get her the biggest, brightest and most attention grabbing accessories. This is all about her!
Incorporate everyone.
Even though designing matching t-shirts for the bridal party can be fun, it can also make the rest of your party guests feel left out. Make shirts for everyone to commemorate the occasion or find an even cheaper (and easier to adapt) option, like matching goofy hats. Possibilities are endless you just have to use your imagination!
Transportation.
If you plan on taking yourselves out on the town, be sure you have a way to get home at the end of the night. Be it a taxi, limo, or a designated driver, nothing can be more frustrating than a group of drunken women who can't coordinate a way home!
Use your imagination, have a sense of humor, be practical, and make sure you know your bride-to-be inside and out you would hate to embarrass her or make her uncomfortable on the night she should be completely worry-free. If you have to, keep a check-list with the last remaining item being, "Have fun!"
