Becoming successful in acting is like climbing a ladder. Every step is important, whether the it is time spent watching great movies, preparing for auditions, building up confidence, strengthening your abilities in local plays, mastering a role, etc. Everything must be done with passion and a desire to excel.
Here are some tips.
PASSION / INTEREST
You need passion to be successful in what you do. It is only pure passion that keeps us in a career, even when results and money are not forthcoming as thought. You passion plays a key role in ensuring you get big breaks in the movie industry.
Passion can be developed, but first you need to have an interest. You should have seen something in the acting community that interests you, something lacking that you know you can supply, or a knowledge, orientation, and mindset you think you can give the world through acting. This is what gives you the determination to hit the limelight no matter what, and then passion is effortlessly born to see you through.
JOIN THE UNION & GET AN AGENT
Join the acting union in your country. Also, make efforts to get an agent. Most people think getting an agent is very difficult. You can make the task easier by contacting them directly. Go straight to their office, make enquiries, and ensure you attend the open auditions they organize.
FILM SCHOOL
For practical jobs like acting, those who practice well become outstanding. The right practice will also put you ahead of others.
If you haven't, enrolling in a film school is a wise decision to take, especially when you have a pure passion and desire to be an outstandingly successfully actor. In film schools, you learn some basics of acting, and you get exposed to other sections or sectors of the movie industry like production, screenwriting, directing, etc. You will also practice with fellow students under the supervision of experienced instructors.
TRAIN FOR MANY ROLES BUT MASTER SOME
We can play many roles, but we might not be the best in all of them. An actor may not be able to play the role of an actress.
In the same light, we normally find ourselves loving some particular roles than others. If you find yourself in such a situation, work on those roles, and ensure you are very good at them. You can get movies of the best actors of those roles, watch them regularly, and improve your abilities. You should be able to do better than they did.
PROMOTE YOURSELF
Everyone acquainted with you must know you act. Also, be ready to dare great auditions irrespective of the actors competing with you. Your uniqueness will make the difference.
Also, associate with those in the acting business. Make friends with lots of them with every opportunity.
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF & BE FOCUSED
Obstacles and challenges must be experienced by everyone who wants to make a mark in the world. However, these obstacles and challenges will always turn out to great opportunities for breakthroughs and outstanding success if you don't give up.
Believe in God and yourself; and be focused. If you fall, get up. You should only choose an acting career because you want to make a mark. Your acting skills and roles might be able to stop and discourage people from involving in crimes and immoralities in the world.
