ALT-3 Should Hummers be Outlawed for Road Travel – No
Heck No, some of the main reasons that people buy the Hummer is for ego reasons. There are a few that might want to drive it for its theoretical off-road abilities. But those folks would be misled on these abilities due to the fact that any Hummer produced after the military version is actually made by General Motors. Therefore it isn't any better as an off-road vehicle than other truck like vehicles around today. Besides, how many Hummers have you seen in the out-back setting lately? What's that, not too many? Then why pay all that money for something your not going to use. Oh, I forgot it's all about me.
Back to the the ego factor, there are distinct advantages to knowing if a person drives a Hummer or a Toyota Camry for instance. Ego driven people are self-impressed with what they think other people are thinking about them.
So let's take a look at a few other people to see what they are thinking. How about that attractive looking thirty something who is trying to raise her kids on her single parent wages. No doubt she is thinking there is no way she would have anything to do with that person since he is only thinking about his own ego and would most likely not want to spend money on raising children. She would never share a cup of coffee with this person. Well you didn't like her anyway did you.
How about his own kids, what do they think? Most kids might not consider who is paying for their college education, but wouldn't those extraordinary car payments pay for a year or two in college for at least one child. But you could always tell your kids to go out and get a job for themselves, and they can buy their own Hummer someday, right?
And what about the guy at the stop light who keeps looking at your Hummer? You might think that he is looking at you with jealousy in his heart, but you would be wrong, he's thinking how could anybody be as wasteful about money as this guy?
So let's talk about that job interview with the high officer at that company that you would just love to work for. Except for perhaps a Hummer salesman position, most other hiring officials would not look too kindly at your extravagant vehicle. I wonder if it has an effect on whether or not you get that job? Would you hire an accountant or a high responsibility position if they were that loose with their own money?
Well, there you go, it pays to observe those who want to be observed. You can sure avoid a lot of grief by going in the opposite direction of these people who haven't yet matured in their need for attention. Oh and one more thing, you young guys who like to show off that high end vehicle that daddy bought you, do the chics like you for your car or for you? Something to think about at divorce court.
